Why Marudhanayagam may be revived by Lyca Productions?
Lyca Productions, who forayed into Tamil cinema with Vijay’s Kaththi, has already started bankrolling Shankar-Rajinikanth’s mega-budget Endhiran 2, which is billed as the most expensive Indian film. Now, a recent picture (a poster of Marudhanayagam) shared by Ayngaran’s Twitter handle last night has led to speculations that the film may be bankrolled by Lyca since Ayngaran Karunamoorthy, one of the influential producers in the business, is also part of team Lyca.
In December 2014, Kamal Haasan hinted at reviving Marudhanayagam in his interview to a Tamil magazine where he revealed that a London-based friend is planning to fund the project irrespective of the lavish production cost. We reported about it here. It must be noted that Lyca Productions is a subsidiary company of Lyca Mobiles, which is headquartered in London and was founded by the Sri Lankan business magnate Alliarajah Subaskaran, Chairman of Lyca Group of Companies. Now, the frustrating wait for an official word on the film continues.
