Wanted to be cast in Ponniyin Selvan, but Mani Ratnam denied: Superstar Rajinikanth

Superstar Rajinikanth made his grand presence at the Ponniyin Selvan audio and trailer launch at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai yesterday, along with Kamal Haasan who was also present at the grand event. Superstar Rajinikanth said that he wished to be a part of Ponniyin Selvan and also offered to play the role of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar played by Sarath Kumar, but Mani Ratnam had denied it.

Superstar was also in high praise for Aishwarya Rai and her character of Nandini in the novel, which he said was the inspiration for the role of Neelambari in Padayappa. Ponniyin Selvan is all set to hit the screens on the 30th of September.
