Vivek’s everlasting memory of K Balachander

Actor Vivek, one of the renowned proteges of late legend K Balachander, shares his everlasting memory of his mentor. Vivek was introduced by KB in Manathil Uruthi Vendum 27 years back which changed his career forever. “It could be anyone – Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Nassar or me, Balachander sir always considers them as equal and treat them in the same way,” says Vivek to a daily.

“One of my lasting memories of KB happened a few years ago when I visited KB sir’s house and was asked to wait in his room. I heard a noise from the restroom and when I turned, I saw something I can never forget – the legendary washing his slippers with his own hands. I was stunned and and asked him, Ayya why do you do these menial chores? He replied saying, ‘We only must wash what belongs to us. If we ask others to clean it, that’s a weird life to lead’,” recalls Vivek.
