Visaaranai begins its award journey at Venice Film Festival

Vetrimaaran’s Visaaranai has premiered at the prestigious 72nd Venice Film Festival and bagged the ‘Cinema For Human Rights’ award from Amnesty International (Italy), the independent global community of human rights activists.

“Many other films in competition and non-competition categories have been involved in various aspects related to human rights, with sensitivity and originality. But ‘Visaaranai’, taken from the experience of a survivor now an activist for human rights, has prevailed over the others, to the powerful post of denunciation of the torture in the police stations of India and the climate of  impunity and corruption that favors at the expense of vulnerable and defenseless,” said Riccardo Noury, spokesman for Amnesty International Italy.

Visaaranai will be presented by Lyca Productions worldwide in December.
