3 films represented by Viewfinder Film Consulting will be making their way to Singapore as part of the inaugural Singapore South Asian International Film Festival (SGSAIFF) from September 1-9, 2017.
“Merku Thodarchi Malai” directed by Lenin Bharathi and produced by Vijay Sethupathi Productions and “Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu” directed by Suresh Sangaiah and produced by Eros International will be having their Singapore premieres at the festival. Both films previously had their International and World premieres, respectively, at the New York Indian Film Festival in May 2017, following which OKKM was released to wide acclaim in India on June 2.
Joining them in Singapore is also a brand new short film from debut Sri Lankan/French director Nirmalan Nadarajah titled “Unlock”. The 14-minute film is a look at the impact of international relief and government organizations on the victims of Sri Lanka’s 26-year civil war and ongoing political strife. It also has noted Sri Lankan performer Shobashakthi (Antonythasan Jesuthasan) of Cannes award-winner “Dheepan” fame, in a key role.
All 3 films represent the entirety of Tamil film programming in the competitive feature & short film categories of the very selective festival that has assembled an impressive jury and will feature special appearances from actors such as Abhay Deol and Manoj Bajpayee.
The scheduled screening dates of these 3 films at the festival are:
“Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu” – September 4
“Unlock” – September 7
“Merku Thodarchi Malai” – September 8
