Controversial dialogue removed in VIP

Dhanush’s Velai Illa Pattadhari is a hugely successful film, both at the box-office and on paper. But, there were unforeseen protests from Ramakrishna Mission alumni and students for a demeaning dialogue about their school in the film. The makers of the film have finally succumbed to the pressure and removed the dialogues from the film.

“We never expected that the dialogues would have this much impact. We don’t want to hurt the sentiments of anyone. Hence, the debatable dialogues has been removed from the film,” says Velraj. The film’s posters where Dhanush was seen smoking also came under the scanner when Tobacco Control Board issued a warning to remove them immediately.
