Director Vasantha Balan has always been vocal on social media platforms on issues he’s concerned with. Now, he is mighty impressed by filmmaker Ranjith’s sophomore feature film Madras, starring Karthi and Cathetrine Tresa in lead roles. “Ranjith has registered the lives of people in north Madras in an aesthetic manner without any cinematic compromises. As usual, people will cringe that it’s copied from Korean cinema. But, it’s the story of Madras. It’s the story of a wall,” says Vasantha Balan.
“Karthi has delivered a beautiful performance in his lovely role. Ranjith has laced small characters beautifully in the storyline. Cinematographer has done a brilliant job,” adds Vasantha Balan. Madras is also getting unanimously positive reviews from critics and film buffs alike. Many are of the opinion that it is Karthi’s best film after Paruthiveeran.
