Varalaxmi Sarathkumar submits her requests to TN CM Edappadi Palaniswamy

Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, in March, launched her signature campaign, Save Shakti, a cause that aims to add more Mahila courts at the district level for speedy delivery of justice. The actress had said that the two-pronged campaign will ask for Mahila courts at all districts and verdict to be delivered in a stipulated period. This week, the campaign was elevated to a different level altogether; when the Save Sakthi team met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy on Monday and put forth their requests and went on to meet the Minister of State Law and Justice PP Chaudhary on Tuesday.
We first met our CM who listened to our requirements. We also told him about what our former CM late J Jayalalithaa had planned for when it came to Mahila courts and justice. He said the government will look into the issue and will work for the functioning of the dysfunctional Mahila courts across the state. We also spoke to him about the delayed justice system. There should be an efficient delivery system which would reinforce the fear among perpetrators,” said the co-founder of the campaign, Dr. Deepa Muthukumar.

Talking about the meeting with the Ministry of State Law and Justice PP Chaudhary, she said, “He immediately supported our cause and has announced his decision to send a letter to the Chief Ministers across India to make Mahila courts function efficiently in every district. This is a very encouraging step and we look forward to it as it will help the campaign to succeed at a National level.”
