US Premiere of Vijay Sethupathi’s “Merku Thodarchi Malai” in New York

Vijay Sethupathi produced “Merku Thodarchi Malai”, which has already garnered awards in India, will be having its International Premiere at the 17th annual New York Indian Film Festival! The film, directed by Lenin Bharathi, has already played at 3 Indian film festivals; it won the KW Joseph Award for Best Film at the 2017 International Film Festival of Thrissur.

“We are very happy that ‘Merku Thodarchi Malai’ has earned a place at the New York Indian Film Festival. I would like to take this chance to thank my producer Vijay Sethupathi sincerely, Viewfinder Film Consulting’s Dilani Rabindran for guiding the film to New York and all those who worked on this movie with me” says an elated Lenin Bharathi on the selection.

The film is based on several true stories from the people who reside in the borders of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Most notably, the film features villagers who have had no formal training in acting.

“Merku Thodarchi Malai” plays under its English title of “Western Ghats” on Friday, May 5th at 6:30 pm. Director Lenin Bharathi will be in attendance to promote the film.
