Urumeen director pleads support after outrageous demand from censor board
Sakthivel Perumalsamy, director of Bobby Simha’s forthcoming film Urumeen, is the latest to bear the brunt of censor board, whose authoritarianism based on outdated laws has been a pain in the neck for film-makers’ creative freedom of late. The trailer of his film has been rejected certification for the usage of statement – “REVENGE IS ALWAYS ULTIMATE”.
A distressed Sakthivel took on to his official Facebook to share the ordeal.
“First time in the history of Tamil cinema (I think) our movie URUMEEN trailer is refused by Censor board just because of one sentence REVENGE IS ALWAYS ULTIMATE…and We r moving to Revising Committee and re applying censor… Totally useless rules and arguments…there r lot of movies using bad words, sexual and violence content but I don’t know what’s happening here…pls support us…#urumeen #revengeisalwaysultimate#censor,” [sic] posted Sakthivel.
