A challenge for Rajinikanth fans!

The brouhaha on Twitter never ceased since the arrival of Rajinikanth yesterday. Moments after it was announced that Superstar will join Twitter, everyone was eagerly waiting for his first tweet like waiting in queue to buy tickets for the first day first show of his films. That Rajinikanth took the social networking site to a standstill would not be a hyperbole. Fans followed him in large numbers with his profile adding nearly 10, 000 followers per hour. Twitter dedicated a special header on everyone’s TL saying “Welcome Rajinikanth to Twitter.”

And his most anticipated was quite bland against all the hype. “Salutation to the Lord. Vaṇakkam aṉaivarukkum !! A big thank you to all my fans. Excited on this digital journey http://goo.gl/hyuvZx ,” tweeted Rajinikanth (or his PR agency Fluence). As I type this, the followers count of Superstar stands at 190K and is still counting. Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have 8.6 and 7.7 million followers. It took five years for them to achieve the feat. Will Rajinikanth fans break the record?
