A noteworthy space adventure!

Tik Tik Tik on the whole, is a definitely an engaging adventure with some fun moments and some flak, evenly spaced out. Watch this as a B-movie without complaining and you're sure to enjoy it more than you could otherwise.

Billed as India’s first space film, Tik Tik Tik comes from director Shakti Rajan who is now becoming the doorman for new genres in Tamil cinema. The film takes puts a commercial spin on a high-concept space adventure and ends up as a good theatre watch.

The thought of making a space film definitely needs to be appreciated, as the team’s attention to detail is laudable. With solid technical work all around, the end product is bright and shiny throughout. Shakti takes his time to establish his concept and premise using conveniently written characters in a jolly first hour. Once the film gets into the tone of outer space, more ideas begin to flow with polarized results. The second half, almost entirely narrated in outer space is a visually delightful, content-wise decent experience.

When it comes to the cast members, there’s no dependency on one central character, however, the film has moments for each and everybody in the ring. Jayam Ravi does his best to own his moments, while Jayaprakash, Nivetha and the little one Aarav come next. The emotional connect between the father-son duo has worked really well in the film and is justified perfectly why Aarav Ravi is the apt choice.

In terms of technical aspects and VFX, the film sets a new benchmark for obtaining great visuals at this budget. The scenes shot in outer space hold great weightage, especially the pre-climax sequence where Ravi does it all. The intricate set work is also a huge plus, with the attention to detail at top drawer. Imman shows his versatility as a composer with a fine soundtrack that ticks in your head, even though you can draw lines to other scores.
