Thirumanam Enum Nikkah directed by Anees is all set to hit the screens on May 15th, a day before the results of India’s parliamentary elections. The film has Jai and Nazriya Nazim in the lead roles and has music by Ghibran, which has already received wide acclaim from the music aficionados. It is based on a love story between a Hindu and a Muslim. But, the film will not showcase the decades old rough-and-tumble fights between the Hindus and Muslims.
“TEN would busts the myths surrounding the religious and social groups. Often, communities have been reduced to something they are not in reality. Which is why I wanted to make a film about a Tamil Iyengar boy falling in love with a Muslim girl. There is a lot of diversity even among the Muslims living in Tamil Nadu. For instance, Tamil-speaking Muslims and Urdu-speaking Muslims have different rituals and customs,” says Anees in an interview to a daily.
