The conviction of ex Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalitha has left the entire state in a standstill for the past two days. While normalcy has returned in few places, main cities and districts headquarters still witness protests sporadically. Tamil Nadu Film Exhibitors Association, who cancelled the evening and night shows on Saturday few hours after the verdict was announced, will stage a day-long fast tomorrow to express their dissent against the verdict. Tamil Film Producers Council, Director’s Union, South Indian Film Artistes Association FEFSI will also participate in the hunger protest tomorrow. Producers have also called off shooting of their films tomorrow to display their solidarity.
The morning and noon shows in theatres all over Tamil Nadu are cancelled tomorrow (September 30th) and distributors and exhibitors will observe a peaceful fast tomorrow to display their support for Amma. Meanwhile, Jayalalitha’s trusted aide, O. Panneer Selvam is all set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today.
Vishal’s Jeeva and Karthi’s Madras, which opened to positive reviews last Friday, will be missing out the most with this fateful decision. More over, a spate of releases are waiting in the anvil to hit screens on October 2nd including Jiiva’s Yaan and Vemal – Priya Anand starrer Oru Oorla Rendu Raja.
