The proverb ‘Time and tide wait for none’ holds good for Kollywood in September as films are competing to get a theatrical release since October is allocated for biggies literally. Some films are big and some are small as far as budget is concerned, but film buffs are in for a ride irrespective of the film’s budget.
September 5
Amarakaviyam – staring Sathya and Mia George, produced by Arya’s The Show People, Poriyaalan – staring Harish Kalyan & Anandhi produced by Vetrimaaran’s Grass Root and released by Vendhar Movies, Pattaya Kelappanum Pandiya – starring Vidharth, Manisha Yadav and Soori produced by Ani Muthu’s Mutiara Films International. Others films include Vilasam, Kathalai Thavira Veraa Ondrum Illai, Valiyudan Oru Kadhal, Vangakarai are also looking for release.
September 12
Sigaram Thodu – directed by Gaurav, has Vikram Prabhu & Monal Gajjar & produced by UTV Motion Pictures, Burma – directed by debutant Dharani Dharan, has Atul Kulkarni, Michael Thangadurai, Sampath and Reshmi Menon, Vanavarayan Vallavarayan – has Krishna, Ma Ka Pa Anand, Monal Gajjar and Niharika Kareer is confirmed. Aal and Sivappu Yenaku Pidikum are most likely to release on the same day.
September 19 th
Aranmanai will lead with its all-star cast which includes Hansika, Andrea, Raai Laxmi, Santhanam, Kovai Sarala, Vinay and many others. It is directed by Sundar C, who also plays an important role in the film. Aadama Jaichomada – starring Karunakaran, Simhaa, Radharavi, Naren, K.S.Ravikumar, Produced by B&C Productions and directed by Badri.
On September 26th, Madras – starring Karthi and Catherine Tresa, Produced by Studio Green and Directed by Pa. Ranjith. Mahabalipuram, a studio 9 Release is also most likely to hit the screens on the same day.
Kaaviya Thalaivan starring Sidharath, Prithiviraj, Vedhika, directed by Vasantha Balan and music scored by AR Rahman was tentatively announced for September 26th. But since both Madras & Kaaviya Thalaivan are under distributed by Dream Factory, Madras is likely to release before KT.
Others films in the running for a September release are Naaigal Jaakirathai produced by Sathyaraj’s Nathambal Productions starring Sibiraj, Meaghamann staring Arya and Hansika, directed by Maghizh Thirumeni and produced by Hitesh jabak , Vidiyum Varai Vinmeengal Avaom and few other low-budget films are also in the fray.
While tentative October releases include Yaan– starring Jiiva and Thulasi Nair, produced by RS Infotainment, Oru Oorula Rendu Raja-starring Vemal, Priya Anand and Soori, directed by R. Kannan and produced by Global Infotainment and S.J.Suriya’s Isai along with Sathyaraj and Savithri. Isai also music scored by S.J. Suriya himself and will release on October 2nd.
