Actors Suriya and Arya have offered support to the newly launched film and television academy in the city, BOFTA (Blue Ocean Film and Television Academy). Dhananjayang Govind, UTV South Chief, has thanked the media for its extended support throughout his career and has revealed his discussion with Suriya and Arya regarding the academy. ” I wish to thank you all for the overwhelming support you have been giving me throughout my career in media since 1998 when I was associated with Saregama-HMV as the General Manager – Marketing & Sales and then with Moserbaer Entertainment as their Chief Executive and for the last five years with UTV as their South Chief.
You have been a pillar of support, encouraging and motivating my marketing and writing activities. In addition to getting tremendous support for the films I associated with as a Producer, your support was immense for my writings and books. Both my books (The Best of Tamil Cinema: 1931 to 2010 and Pride of Tamil Cinema: 1931 to 2013) received some superb comments and articles from you and through this mail I wish to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
BOFTA (Blue Ocean Film & Television Academy) is a new film academy, started by me with the support of Producer friends, with a great vision of students “LEARNING FROM THE REAL MASTERS’ of film and television industry so that the best talent comes to the film and television industry. I am grateful to the Legends like Director Mahendran, Director K. Bhagyaraj, Actor Nasser, Cinematographer Madhu Ambat, Kutti Padmini, Journalist Madhan and many top film makers and cinematographers for believing in my vision and joining as the Star Faculty. They are not going to be offering guest lectures but regular classes every week, which is going to be simply fantastic learning for the students,” says Dhananjayang.
“When I recently met top actor Suriya, he appreciated so much this initiative and said I must record their classes for the use of the students, which we are certainly planning to do. Arya, another popular actor, whole heartedly supported the idea and assured to be a part of it in whichever way he can as felt this is the need of the hour. Like that, we have been getting support from several film makers and actors to make this Academy as the best in the South India,” he added.
