Superstar Rajinikanth on Lingaa, Kochadaiyaan failures, Kaala and Vetrimaaran script
Speaking at the audio launch of Kaala, Superstar Rajinikanth said that the film is not a political drama but the screenplay has some politics. “Vetrimaaran narrated a fantastic script to me. But, I couldn’t take it up since it was heavy on politics. I didn’t have any plans to enter politics by then. After that, I had called Ranjith and told him about the Tamil people living in the slums of Dharavi and suggested him to work on that,” said Rajinikanth.
Rajinikanth also praised that Kaala has a strong villain, Nane Patekar. “In my career, I was completely challenged by only two villains in my films. One is Mark Antony (Raghuvaran) in Baasha and the other is Neelambari played by Ramya Krishnan in Padaiyappa. Now, the third one is Nane Patekar. I was totally thrilled by his performance,” he said.
Rajinikanth also candidly talked about his failures in Lingaa and Kochadaiyaan. “People said my time is over after Lingaa flopped. But, they have been saying it for the past 40 years. And every time, I keep running. They put me down and I come up again. It’s all in the game,” he admitted.
Dhanush lauded Rajinikanth’s dedication and sincerity. Pa Ranjith said Kaala would be a film for the people and of the people.
Kaala is all set to hit screens on June 7th worldwide.
