“Strike will cause a huge loss to me,” says Vijay

Director Vijay has called for the intervention of Producer Council President Vishal in the sudden indefinite strike announced by theater owners association.

Vijay’s statement

“We were planning to release Vanamagan on May 19th, but due to Tamil film industry strike, you asked us to postpone the release to June 23rd. Even I felt that is the right thing to do and changed the release date. Vanamagan is doing really well since its release and now all of a sudden we are told that theatres will be shut from July 3rd.

I have invested so much in this film and strike like this could cause a huge loss for me. We have got better screen counts now for the movie in its second week. It is a very crucial phase for us, and we were expecting a huge share from this week’s performance. This strike could incur a huge loss not just to me but a lot of producers. I request you to take immediate action on this issue and find a suitable solution for everyone. Theatre Association needs to cancel the strike. I hope they will.”
