SPB pays tribute to K.Balachander on his birthday

Veteran singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who made his singing debut in KB’s Ek Duuje Ke Liye, took to Facebook to pay tribute to K. Balachander, who celebrates his 84th birthday today.

Let me first wish the Genius “K.Balachander” a Happy Birthday.

Film industry should make this a marked day its diary for celebrations. I cannot forget him rooting for me when there was a lukewarm reaction for me being the playback singer for EK DUJE KELIYE by LP, the music director (of-course, who later defined me as THE ONE AND ONLY SINGER) which fetched my second national award, and the first in Hindi for my debut song.

How can I forget him, watching me in a short mime on the stage and gave me a break as an actor in MANADIL URIDIVENDUM, shooting of which he postponed for almost a month as I was mourning the demise of my father.

I can never forget him showing Rajinikanth in one of our recording sessions, when he has done just a movie, and saying “Watch my words Balu, this boy will rule the industry one day”.

How can I forget the wonderful, challenging songs he offered me in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi?

He made me to dub for Gemini sir in ‘RUDRA VEENA'(Telugu version of UNNAL MUDIYUM THAMBI) which fetched me so many accolades and a state award. The best was, choosing me to play the lead role and compose music for ‘SIKHARAM’ with another privilege of working under the genius of Ananthu sir.

Above all, the affection with which he treats me is more than all my National Awards, Doctorates and Padma award.

Sir,
Live Long,
Live Healthy,
We need you,
We want you.

Sathamaanam Bhavathi.
