Director Hari sent out an earnest statement requesting audiences to avoid piracy and watch his upcoming film Singam 3 in theaters. The movie is all set for release tomorrow with special premieres scheduled in the US tonight.
“People should realize and stop watching movies illegally over internet or pirated DVDs. I’m not laying the blame on all youngsters for what only a faction is responsible for. Cinema is not just a profession but an art; a producer is also an artist. In cinema’s history those who gave up will outnumber those who made money. A producer will only be profited when the viewers watch the movies in theatre. Viewers have all the right to criticize a movie, but please do that after watching it in a theatre. Insist the same to the people who find other sources to watch a film, it’s my humble request.”
“I am not fully aware of the website you are mentioning, but I have a request for them. Please think for a while, why this anger? In what way it is going to benefit you? You will definitely resent it. Through a producer, 300 technicians and a 1000 more people will reap benefits. If you ruin that producer, he will never be able to produce again and the cinema industry will wreck. What are you going to gain by shattering an industry? Cinema is not politics; it is a profession where we strive to make people happy. No one here is succeeding or profiting completely. Please stop all this and post the same on your Twitter; everyone will welcome your decision. Please don’t ruin us. Is there any industry that works 18 to 21 hours a day? If there is one, then the welfare board will send notice to that industry. But we artistes do that wholeheartedly, that’s why the welfare board never sends notice to us. Please realize and put an end to this. We have already made heads turn through our recent revolution. We should not degrade ourselves,” added Hari in his recent statement.
