Chimbudeven’s Kasada Tabara was a film in 2021 that discussed the viewpoints around the butterfly effect theory. And now, Vishal Venkat explores a similar space in his debut film Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal, which brings across the tale of how four strangers get intertwined in a series of events.

The film has Ashok Selvan playing an angry son who learns his true path in life, with Manikandan playing a maintenance head in a hotel, along with Abi Hassan who plays an actor and Praveen who plays a rich IT guy. The story is about how the four lives come together and get connected by a single incident that topples it all.

Vishal Venkat keeps his screenplay very simple and narrates each incident by taking a lot of time. Though his character establishment isnt great at the start, the film gains momentum after the big breaking incident that it has, and moves forward at a decent pace thereon. There are a lot of scenes that will make you skip a beat in the first half, as the emotional weight of the film is entirely placed at the interval mark. In the second half, the film becomes a palette of the problems that the characters face, and brings it all together for a bittersweet ending that makes it good for all.

Ashok Selvan delivers a neat performance in a role that needs him to do a lot of crying and showing rage. The actor does a fine job and creates an impact with his part. On the other hand, Manikandan brings about another excellent performance in the film, and catches the main beats of the film and owns it.

While Abi Hassan is decent, Praveen has a fine role to play and does justice to it. The female characters do not make much of a noise, however, both Reya and Rithvika have a couple of fair sequences. Of course, veteran Nasser does a good job as expected.

The music by Radhan complements the film well, especially the song sung by Dhanush. The rest of the technicalities are decent at best.

On the whole, Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal is a fine film that does not break barriers but does well within its reach.  Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal Movie Review by Siddarth Srinivas
