Sarkar sets new benchmark in Tamil Nadu and Chennai city
Thalapathy Vijay’s Sarkar has set a new benchmark in Tamil Nadu with an opening day gross of Rs 31.2 crores, which has surpassed the previous best performance of Mersal. It must be noted that Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kaala couldn’t beat the opening day number of Mersal when it released this year.
In Chennai city, Sarkar has again registered a phenomenal milestone by becoming the first Tamil film to score more than Rs 2 crores on its opening day by raking a revenue of Rs 2.41 crores. It has dethroned Rajinikanth’s Kaala record to emerge as the all-time best opener.
In USA, the movie grossed $315K from the premiers alone and in Australia, the opening day total of $215K is the all-time best for a Tamil film and is the second South Indian opener after Baahubali 2 Telugu version.
