Sandakozhi 2 Songs Review

Review Overview

Kambathu Ponnu
Meesa Vecha Vettaikaran
Alaalaa
Sooriyarum Sooriyanum
Sengarattan Paaraiyila

A well-packed commercial soundtrack.

Sandakozhi 2 is a fine commercial soundtrack from Yuvan Shankar Raja. The songs may not be as instantly connecting as they were in first part, but they have something in them to make it playlist friendly. With colorful and enticing visuals, they will travel further.

Cast: Vishal, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar

Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Lyrics: Yegathasi, Arun Bharathi, Madhan Karky, Brindha Sarathy, Arivumathi

Director: Lingusamy

Label: Sony Music

Kambathu Ponnu: Singer – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Easily one of the most accessible songs of the season, Yuvan Shankar Raja strikes gold as both composer and singer. The song has some elevations that hit you when you don’t see it coming, making it efficient in many ways. Our PICK.

Meesa Vecha Vettaikaran: Singer – Mahalingam

Though this one is quite similar to the other ‘thiruvizha’ songs that Yuvan has composed, the song takes a whacky turn towards the end with uniquely organized vocals which make it listenable.

Alaalaa: Singer – Kailash Kher

A very average track that stands up only because of Kailash Kher’s vocals.

Sooriyarum Sooriyanum: Singers – Chorus

An interesting track that is entirely built on a chorus rendition. Some grand vibes are embedded, this works well. Our PICK.

Sengarattan Paaraiyila: Singers – Ramani Ammal, Senthildass

Highly energetic mix that fuses a dubstep base with countryside folk beats. With fun-filled visuals, this could be a solid theatre moment. Our PICK.

Folk Instrumental: Instrumental

A continuous instrumental piece with pipes and horns, dipped in rural flavors. Wondering how it would be used in the film.
