Samuthirakani plays a crucial role in Kamaraj restored version

Kamaraj, a docu-drama which was released in 2004 is digitally restored and slated for a re-release on July 11th, the week which marks the 112th birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It’s an extended version of the film and will have an additional footage of 30 minutes which are being filmed in the city. Director Gnanakrishnan says, “It is true. We are planning to re-release the film with additional content. I am doing so because I want to remind youngsters today about the greatness of leaders like Kamaraj and about the simple lives they led”

When quizzed about Samuthirakani’s role, the director says, “Samudrakani plays the son of a freedom fighter and a Corporation officer, who goes to compute the estate tax after the great leader’s demise. Estate tax was a tax that was in vogue then.”
