“Reviews should not be censored,” says Kamal Haasan
Kamal Haasan has answered to a burning question asked by actor Vivek in a Tamil magazine. Vivek has asked Kamal Haasan whether government should consider censoring online criticisms, reviews or malicious rumor-mongering by detractors. Vivek quoted few examples like hoax reports on Sivakarthikeyan, MS Baskar’s death. Kamal Haasan, as usual, has given a sensible and thoughtful reply as one can expect from an actor of his calibre.
“Even before the arrival of internet, there were rumors that my brother KJ Yesudas and I were passed away on the same day once. Reviews should not be confined to a boundary or censored. When the quality falters, the critic himself will underscore its worth. The thought that banning internet reviews will better the prospects of film industry is similar to the thought that marrying a women with a thaali will guarantee her chastity,” answered Kamal Haasan fittingly.
