Returning officer finally rejects Vishal’s nomination in RK Nagar by-election

It was a dramatic night yesterday in RK Nagar. Vishal’s nomination was initially rejected by the returning officer since they said two of the signatures of proposers were not original. Later, after Vishal staged a road roko and got arrested briefly, his nomination was accepted duly.

Again, an hour later, as Vishal and team started celebrations, his nomination was formally rejected by the returning officer with a two-page statement. “The required number of proposers have not validly proposed the candidature of Mr. Vishal Krishna,” said the election commission.

Meanwhile, Vishal said he has video evidence where the returning officer says his nomination has been accepted. “I’m not sure why they are afraid of me. I would not leave my fight here. I will choose another worthy independent candidate who has been nominated and continue to offer my support for him,” said Vishal.
