Illustrious carnatic legend and a prolific mandolin player Uppalapu Srinivas passed away this morning following a failed liver transplant in Apollo Hospital, Chennai. Srinivas is known for collaborations with world famous composers like Michael Nyman, John McLaughlin, and Michael Brook. The entire Indian music industry is shocked to bits since Srinivas is just 45 years old. He was awarded Padma Shree at a young age of 29 and also won the Sangeet Nadak Akademi award four years back.
“Emotionally shaken to hear of Carnatic shining star Mandolin Shrinivasji’s demise… May God bless him with happiness in the next world…,” tweeted AR Rahman. A true legend and he will be greatly missed.
Only Kollywood registers our deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
