Veteran Director-Producer Rama Narayanan passes away
Veteran director, producer Rama Narayanan passed away last night in Singapore following health issues. He is 65 years old and is survived by a son. His cremation will be held in Chennai on Tuesday. In a career spanning 36 years, Rama Narayanan has directed nearly 125 films. He was hailed a maverick commercial filmmaker in the 90s. His films are long-familiar for themes on devotion, spirituality and animals.
One of the very directors to be elected the head of Tamil Film Producers’ Council for three consecutive terms. Narayanan was also elected as an MLA from Karaikudi in 1989 and was the chairman of Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram in 1996. He was considered as one of the close aides of DMK Supremo Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi.
