Rajinikanth pays last respects to Kalaignar Karunanidhi with a heartfelt speech

An unconditional compassion and an insatiable passion for the love for Tamil literature and industry. Especially, the remarkable feat of accomplishments that is marked by his vast domain across years has made Kalaignar Karunanidhi, an immortal icon of our lands.

Expressing their earnest gesture towards the emblem of Tamil cinema, the entire industry (South Indian Artistes Association, FEFSI, Chinnathirai Nadigar Sangam & Kootamaippu) came together organizing the memorial gathering at Kamarajar Arangam to pay their homage. The occasion commenced with the lighting of candles by MK Stalin, Rajinikanth, Nasser, Vishal, Karthi, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Revathi, Lizzy, Vivek, Vikram Prabhu, Radharavi, Vasundhara, Kutty Padmini, Jiiva, Ganesh, Aarthi, Nandha, KT Kunjumon, SP Muthuraman, Radharavi and many others.

Filmmaker SP Muthuraman delivered a sweet speech revealing the secret of Kalaignar success. “I would like to convey the message that the secret of his success was none other than making use of time in a right way.”

Actor Radharavi said, “Kalaignar Karunanidhi has been a symbol of pride for Tamilians all over the World. He has been a self-luminous personality, where he educated himself with the own efforts. Moreover, he has been the only Chief Minister, who is so much down to earth and he would recognize anyone without fail at any point in time. There is no end for him. He is there in every Tamilian, every Tamil culture, Tamil Nadu and his immortality will be present in all of them.”

Actor Vishal, TFPC President said, “Kalaignar Karunanidhi happens to be a boon to the entire Tamil industry. There are many, whose life and name would be diminished as the years pass by. But Kalaignar Karunanidhi is a rare gem who remains unmatchable for his huge triumph and accomplishments in different aspects. Who can forget a man like him who has given free electricity to the farmers? Just like SP Muthuraman said that he is an inspiration to youngsters of how he made use of time. The only request I make on the behalf of Nadigar Sangam is to place a ‘PEN’ used by him in our new building. We want the current and future generations to see this precious treasure out of which he wrote many poems, literary works, and dialogues.”

Speaking on the occasion, Nassar, President of South Indian Artistes Association said, “Although Kalaignar ayya has lived a span of 90yrs, it’s been like 200 years. Such has been his contribution to Tamilians and Tamil Nadu. It wasn’t just a life, but an inspiration of moral values and ethics to many of us…”

Actor Rajinikanth on his part added, “At the age of 45, he headed the political party and for nearly 50 years, he traveled carrying it on his shoulders. The journey wasn’t a smoother one, but the one that had many challenges, plots made against him and many troubles. But the way he tackled and handled them proficiently has been a greater inspiration. As soon as I heard the news of his demise, I was completely broken. But I was terribly disappointed to see very little crowd by night gathered for him. Is this how we honor a legend is what I thought. I just went to sleep with disappointments watching his poems and literary works, which were telecasted that night on TV. But I was surprised by morning to see such huge crowds flocking to see him and give their respect. This is how a Legend should be acclaimed and it is an unforgettable experience for me. In a span of these years, his contribution to literature, art, and films have been incredibly tremendous. It is through his writing that we are able to see the lives of Tamil Nadu’s heroic emperors or else they would have remained in darkness. I am much more disappointed that while every political leader across the other regional states had been there to show their respect for Kalaignar at his funeral, our very own Tamil Nadu Chief Minister wasn’t present.”
