A simple and charming comedy entertainer.

Writer-director Suman Kumar, known for his work in the Family Man series, is here with his feature directorial Raghu Thatha, a film which talks against the Hindi imposition scene in the post-independence era of Tamil Nadu. The film is a minimalistic comedy entertainer that showcases the events that takes place in the life of Kayal, a strong-minded girl who is pressurized by the people around her to follow the rules of the game, but opposes them and tries to win against all the odds.
Kayal is a writer who is trying to make it to the big league, while also working out her job, but she has many things troubling her and she gets across them all thanks to her skills and her strong attitude. The film has a barely decent first half that has some jokes here and there, but the real deal is the second half and the climax that sparkles up some energy onto it. The film satisfies the hunger for good comedy and thrill with the intense exam scene in the second half, followed by the hilarious climax sequence.
Keerthy has performed excellently in the film, and also looks gorgeous while at her job. She is also supported by a good ensemble cast. The film is technically very good with Yamini Yagnamurthy’s superb visuals and the music by Sean Roldan working well.
On the whole, Raghu Thatha is a watchable dramedy that has good humour here and there. It will work for those who want a simple and straightforward film.
