Purampokku Movie Preview

SP Jhananathan has always bestowed Tamil Cinema with his unique breed of films which offer great human values, coupled with much sought-out topics in the society. This Friday, the director returns with Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai, a film belonging to the revolutionary genre. With strong content at the base and toppings of thrilling elements and commercial additions, Jhananathan’s PEP looks like a promising product which has lots in store for the audience.

The film has a huge starcast, consisting of Arya, Vijay Sethupathi, Shaam and Karthika Nair. The film basically deals on the death sentence and whether our society really deserves something on that level. The premise and the aura of the film are completely contrasting to what we have seen in the usual cinema that reaches us every weekend.

Speaking about the film, Karthika Nair said “Purampokku will be a cult film. It belongs to the revolutionary genre. My character Kuyili is one of the boldest ones in Tamil Cinema.” The actress is super confident on the film, and stressed upon the underlying message which is a very important one.

The film certainly promises some exciting visuals. Cinematographer NK Ekambaram has worked hard in the Rajasthan train fight sequence, the chase in Kulu Manali and also the jail scenes, with the use of multiple camera angles. The jail sequences are touted to be the most interesting parts of the film. More than 200 workers toiled hard for three months to erect a gargantuan set in Binny Mills, costing about 2.5 crores.

Purampokku hits the screens on the 15th of May, ie. this Friday. The film is a serious, poignant story which deals on an important topic which demands attention. It might just be the best pick for a true film lover, who would love to take a break from the flashy commercial cinema.
