Producers want royalty share in Ilaiayaraja’s songs; file case in Madras HC

Tamil film producers have filed a case in Madras High Court demanding a share in the royalty for Isaignani Ilaiyaraja’s songs. Recently, Ilaiyaraja issued a video warning saying that those who use his songs for commercial purposes should pay him the necessary royalty fee.

Now, producers are arguing that they are investors for his music in the early days and definitely have a right for the share in the royalty see. PT Selvakumar, Meera Kathiravan are among the six producers who have lodged a case in the Madras High Court.
