Prince Movie Review
Sivakarthikeyan slides through this basic and bareline watchable comedy film. Down goes our Prince Movie Review.
Sivakarthikeyan is one actor who is not afraid to continuously explore different spaces within the comedy genre. After doing a dark comedy and a campus entertainer back to back, he is now knee deep into the slapstick quotient with Prince, his latest release.
Directed by Anudeep, Prince is a simple and straightforward entertainer which has the story of a Tamil boy falling for a foreign girl. The story takes place in a village which is very lenient with respect to the amount of brain they have, and Anudeep has set it that way to give his film a very silly silver lining in every scene. The first half is freerolling with a leisurely pace and laughs here and there, but the second half is where Anudeep actually explores some new things. While some of them work, some do not. The climax sequence is highly debatable – it will be a laugh riot for many but few others will call it cringe-worthy.
Prince does not have a big performance as such from Sivakarthikeyan because that is not exactly what the film demands, it just needs him to walk through the proceedings and he does. The film also has a fine show from the heroine Maria and Sathyaraj, who are good additions to the cast. Premgi Amaren does not have much to do and so are the young friends of SK such as Prankster Rahul and Bharaath.
Thaman has done what he can to up the entertainment factor in the film, the songs work o screen while the BGM is decent. The visuals and the cuts are purely functional.
On the whole, Prince is a basic entertainer which feels like one that Sivakarthikeyan has done in his earlier days. After seeing him in films which are mounted big, this feels like a tea break. Prince Movie Review by Only Kollywood
