Police to investigate Kochadaiiyaan tax fraud

Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan directed by Soundarya and produced Mediaone Global Entertainment receievd  U certificate in censor board and was also declared eligible for tax exemption in the state. But, Mediaone Global Entertainment also obtained censor certification for the film’s 3D version Kochadaiiyaan – The Legend 3D and it was not granted tax exemption because of the English word in the title.

A petitioner, who watched the film’s 3D version was shocked to know the theater owners didn’t exempt entertainment tax in the ticket cost even after the film’s granted tax exemption. Later, the petitioner realized that the other version was not granted tax exemption. As the theatre owner exhibited Kochadaiyaan – The Legend 3D (with English title), the production house made a huge profit illegally using the tax exemption obtained for the Tamil film.

“Saravanan filed a petition with the DGP seeking action against the secretary, principal secretary of commercial taxes department for their failure to enforce and monitor the collection of entertainment tax. Since there was no response, he filed the petition with XIII metropolitan magistrate court, Egmore,” reports a daily. The court has now directed the police to investiage the tax fraud.
