Following the lines of “Kadhalil Sodhapuvadhu Eppadi” comes another short film turned into a feature film, “Pannaiyarum Padminiyum”. The story revolves around Pannaiyar (Jayaprakash) from Melur village. Pannaiyar is the only man in the village to afford things like radio, telephone, television etc. There comes a situation where Pannaiyar’s relative has to go out of town leaving his Padmini (Car) under Pannaiyar’s care. The story begins with a villager bit by a snake and needs immediate medical attention. With no knowledge of driving, Pannaiyar has no other option but to hand over the car to Murugesan (Vijay Sethupathi). The rest is all about how the characters project their emotions with the car being around them.

The movie, which has been tout with Vijay Setupathi playing the lead role has acted well in projecting different emotions throughout the movie. However, the main focus of story revolves around Jayaprakash and his wife Chellama played by Thulasi. Audience would be taken aback with both their performances in the movie. Iyshwarya who plays the love interest of Vijay Setupathi does a neat job. Bala, who potrayed Murugesan’s character in the short film plays “Peedai”, a servant working at Pannaiyar’s house. He helps the movie move forward with his comical sense. The other characters in the movie, Neelima who plays the daughter of Jayaprakash throws in some grey shades to the movie with her adamant portrayal.

Arun kumar, who has held the microphone for the first time has done a commendable job in essaying the script and carrying the emotions of all the main characters brilliantly. The music and background score by Justin Prabhakaran adds great value to the movie and for sure he is set to reach heights! The movie is technically brilliant with good cinematography and crisp editing. The only lag we felt was probably with the slow screenplay, but it’s voidable.
