Oscars committee will agree with Uttama Villain too: Kamal Haasan
As the entire team of Uttama Villain is gearing up for the audio launch on Sunday, Kamal Haasan has taken some time off to wish Craig Mann, the sound re-recording mixer of the film who bagged the prestigious Oscar award for Best Sound Mixing for the English film Whiplash. Craig was introduced to Kamal’s long-standing collaborator Kunal Rajan who is based in the US. Kunal is also the sound designer of Uttama Villain.
“We are very happy. We’re talking about Whiplash and he had the humility to say that the next best thing he liked was the sound mix in Birdman. I liked his magnanimity and I like the patience with which he has done our film. Though we have nothing to do with Whiplash, it feels like our team got the Oscars. I think Kunal has an uncanny knack of rubbing shoulders with Oscar winners. I have heard the sound mix of Uttama Villain which he did with the same interest as he would do an American film. And, am sure that if an award committee were to listen to this sound mix, they will agree.. and do what they did to Whiplash for Uttama Villain too,” said Kamal Haasan.
