“No one was ready to direct Vijay,” says SA Chandrasekhar

Speaking at the audio launch of Touring Talkies, which hits screens Friday, SA Chandrasekhar harked back on Vijay’s early years in the industry. “I have spent my nights on platforms to search for opportunities in the industry. Later when I became an established director after giving several hit films, I had come to a conclusion that I should neither direct nor produce films anymore. That was when my son Vijay aspired to be an actor,” said SAC.

“I introduced Vijay to the most significant, top-shot directors of Tamil cinema then and requested them to star him in the lead role in their films. I promised them financial care irrespective of the magnitude of the budget. But, no one was ready to direct Vijay. That was when I took up direction again and made films with my son in the lead role. Now, what a huge stardom Vijay has attained!,” added SAC.

Now, I have a good daughter-in-law, grandchildren and healthy financial status. So, I decided to give up direction for once and all now. However, I will continue to produce films to introduce good talents to the industry,” concluded SA Chandrasekhar.
