Nikki Galrani is arguably the busiest heroine down South. She has up to 7 films in her kitty and is in a very happy space in her career. Over to her in this interview chat with Kaushik LM,
“I play an extended cameo in Kadavul Irukaan Kumaaru (KIK) and my part adds a lot to the story though I won’t be there throughout. Producer Siva sir is like a father figure and I agreed to do the film for him. I had super fun with director Rajesh sir during the shoots. What you’ve seen in the teasers is just a sample, there is much more in the film.”
Talking about her Darling co-star GV Prakash, Nikki added, “He has grown so much as an actor and as a person, since Darling. His transformation is very good and I wish him all the luck. The audience has to comment how our chemistry has worked out this time around. They are the best judge. And also whether it is a love triangle or rectangle, come and see it in the theater. Else, the ‘KIK‘ will be lost.”
Nikki laughed away the question on a heroine feeling insecure in the presence of another heroine in the same film,
“It’s actually funny. Why should there be problems when two heroines act together? Is it a rule? Personally, I am very content with what I have in life and I don’t feel insecure about anything or anybody. I’ve done 23 films in a span of 2.5 yrs and it’s a big record for me. I just don’t have the time to think about insecurity and stuff.”
Earlier in the year, Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran was a big boost to Nikki’s career,
“Yes, people liked it a lot. Wherever I go, I get good comments about my police role and the comedy in the film with ‘Pushpa Purushan’ and all. The reach is great and VVV started off my year so well. I hope to end the year with the same ‘KIK’.”
Up next for her after ‘KIK’ is Raghava Lawrence’s Motta Siva Ketta Siva which is a probable December release,
“I play a TV reporter in this remake of Pataas and it’s a funny, energetic and cutesy character. I’ve also attempted little dance steps with Lawrence sir. I’m not a super dancer to match steps with him (laughs).”
This is what her post-KIK line-up looks like – Motta Siva Ketta Siva, Maragadha Naanayam with Aadhi, Kee with Jiiva, Neruppuda with Vikram Prabhu, Harahara Mahadevaki with Gautham Karthik, Team 5 with Sreeshanth and one more Malayalam film which will be announced soon.
“I like to shoot and I don’t take off days often. For about 27 to 28 days a month, I am on my shoot commitments and traveling,” signs off Nikki on a super-positive note.
