Nayanthara’s winning performance as a Tamil brahmin

Nayanthara’s Nee Enge En Anbe is all set to hit the screens this Thursday. A remake of the super hit Hindi film Kahaani, where Vidya Balan played the central character, Nee Enge En Anbe has Nayanthara essaying the same role in Tamil. Nayanthara plays a Tamil brahmin searching for her husband on the streets of Hyderabad.

Sekhar Kammula of Happy Days fame says, “I wouldn’t call this a remake at all. It is an adapted version of Kahaani. The story has been tweaked a lot to make it perfect to the Tamil audience but we have retained the engrossment quotient of the original film.” It is worth mentioning that unlike Vidya Balan who played a  pregnant women in the original, Nayanthara doesn’t reprise the same role. Speculations are rife that all is not well with Nayanthara and Sekhar Kammula, the director of her upcoming film Nee Enge En Anbe. But the director denies it as rumors and credits Nayanthara saying she has delivered a mature, winning performance that will put all comparisons with Vidya Balan to rest.
