An energetic, high-spirited album from Imman!
Yenga Annan: Singers – Nakash Aziz, Sunidhi Chauhan 👍
A full-on energetic and rhythmic annan-thangachi sentiment number that gets onto you during the first listen itself. The beats are organized in the right fashion, with both Nakash Aziz and Sunidhi pumping in a lot of zest. Vignesh Shivn’s lines fit in well too, our PICK.
Mailaanji: Singers – Pradeep Kumar, Shreya Ghoshal 👍
For a change, Imman drives away from his usual style of melodies and delivers an enjoyable duet that has a jaunty twist to it for the high point. With Pradeep Kumar and Shreya Ghoshal on the mic, everything works well. Our PICK.
Unkoodave Porakkanum: Singer – Sid Sriram
A decent brother-sister song that has some very good lines by GKB. Sid Sriram aces the high pitch parts of the song, but the lower ones sound like a murmur. Nevertheless, an accessible song.
Jigiri Dosthu: Singers – Puduvaisithan Jayamoorthy, Anthakudi Ilaiyaraja
An awry track that doesn’t quite understand the mood properly. Some nice approaches in the vocals, but that’s it.
Unkoodave Porakkanum: Singer – Shashaa Tirupati
Being the female version of the 3rd track, Shashaa Tirupati gets onto the mic. In fact, she betters Sid Sriram’s rendition in more than one way, making it the comparatively better version.
Gaandakannazhagi: Singers – Anirudh, Neeti Mohan 👍
Sivakarthikeyan is back here as a lyricist, and he keeps the lines as casual as possible. Taking us back to songs like Gundumaanga Thoppukula from Sachin, the song meets the josh of a boy and girl mischievously romancing each other. Imman’s lovable beat never goes out of the way, with Anirudh and Neeti Mohan wonderfully competing with each other. Huge hit for sure, this. Another PICK!
Namma Veettu Pillai Theme: Chorus
A fairly good composition for the background score of the film, with the trumpets scoring best.
Imman has truly struck it high with the entertainment value in this album, bringing in songs across different genres and rhythms. After Kadaikutty Singam, he once again proves that his combo with Pandiraj does result in some good rural music. At least three songs have the potential to turn into huge hits, which is more than a proper promotional tool for the film. Siddarth Srinivas
