Mysskin is known for his terrific speeches on various topics in the industry. He has spoken about censorship quite a few times in the past. However, he was the cynosure of all eyes when he took the mic to deliver another standing-ovation deserving speech on censorship at the audio launch of Tharkaappu yesterday.
“We don’t have any difference for an A or U/A certificate. If a movie fails, it will wreck at least 50 families completely. A producer pours in all his hard-earned money for a movie, the reason is his thirst for art. It can be so easy to categorize a movie with few violence or abusive words, but there is no life without these two factors. If you need to portray reality on screen, you cannot do it without these elements which are indeed a part of real life. The audience who can appreciate a movie is definitely greater than the director, so you should not cheat them with unreal things. A movie is made for all audiences irrespective of their status or profession. An artiste needs ultimate freedom to give his best to the audience to portray the reality. A movie should be so intense, it should hit you at the gut level. There is one commonly prevalent mentality among the Indian movie-goers, they want movies to be watchable with family and kids. When it comes to movie, it’s an adult medium. My next movie is a crime thriller, it is not for women and kids. I request them to not come for it,” said Mysskin who received applause for his speech.
