Actor-director Manobala, who received his breakthrough role in the Suriya, Asin-starrer Ghajini, recalls AR Murugadoss’s relationship with his guru Kalaimani, who worked as a playwright for Manobala. “Everyone knows that Kalaimani is the playwright for my directions. AR
Murugadoss was Kalaimani’s assistant. It’s an interesting story how Murugadoss, who hails from Kallakurichi, stepped into Tamil cinema. When he was about to board his bus to Chennai, bus and train services were stopped due to the demise of a popular leader. He then made it to Chennai only in his second attempt,” harks back Manobala.
“AR Murugadoss used to bring down the dialogues and scripts from Kalaimani and hand over it to me. That was his job then. Murugadoss’s handwriting will be so neat; he used to do everything Kalaimani asks him to without scowling. Later, when Kalaimani was hospitalized, AR Murugadoss took complete care of him and did all that he could do. Even after Kalaimani’s decease, AR Murugadoss supported his family
financially.” Manobala said.
