Manmatha Leelai Movie Review

The promos and the trailer of Manmatha Leelai promised an adult-rated film that would entertain the youth. But Venkat Prabhu is a director who always like to pack in surprises into his film, and he does so with Manmatha Leelai which works out to be a fun-filled entertainer that is engaging from start to finish.

Manmatha Leelai is a film that narrates the protagonist’s life in two timelines, which are in 2010 and 2020. The film moves ahead in swapping narratives, with a comedy of errors going up in the first half. The second half pulls out a rabbit from the hat, as it gives us a thrilling narrative even though made on a small scale, packed with twists and turns that do not look out of place. The high-voltage climax is also something that works well in the favor of the film, and helps it end on a high.

Ashok Selvan delivers a very good performance in the film, and is able to manage all the facets that it requires, being the romantic, the comic sequences and also the climax of the film.

The film benefits from his performance largely, and he also gets good support from the three heroines in Riya Suman, Samyuktha Hegde and Smruthi Venkat who all come together for the entertaining bits. The supporting cast also has many other faces who help it go through in fine fashion.

Premgi Amaren’s music is a big plus to the film, as the composer proves his mettle with a solid score that has all emotions rolled into one. The film also has good visuals and editing for the small production scale that it has.

On the whole, Manmatha Leelai is a fine commercial entertainer that is made on a compact budget but still works. Credits to Venkat Prabhu for once again using the element of time and churning out an engaging film that gives you a bang for your buck.  Manmatha Leelai Movie Review by Siddarth Srinivas
