Mani Ratnam and Mysskin’s sound engineer for ‘Kayal’

Sound plays a prominent role in Prabhu Solomon’s Kayal, a love drama set in the backdrop of the aftermath of Tsunami disaster. The film’s sound engineer Tapas Nayak is hopeful that audiences will have an enthralling experience in theaters with the high-quality mixing process involved. “Prabhu Solomon had decided right in the beginning that his movie would have a Dolby Atmos system as  he knew that the soundscape played an important role in the film. The speed and the force of the waves had to be captured in the audio, and the volume of this water was phenomenal,” says Tapas Nayak about recreating the Tsunami episode. Tapas Nayak has earlier worked as sound editor for Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan and was incharge of audiography for Mysskin’s Mugamoodi. His recent Tamil film was Ravi K Chandran’s Yaan. 

The film is all set for a Christmas release, which also marks the tenth anniversary of the catastrophe that took away thousands of lives. Kayal has Anandhi of Poriyaalan fame playing the titular role and a newcomer Anandhan as her co-star. Prabhu Solomon’s next film will be produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies and the details about the cast and crew are awaited.
