Mani Ratnam co-scripts a biopic with Rang De Basanti writer
Mani Ratnam has co-written the screenplay of a yet-untitled flick with Bollywood writer-director Rensil D’silva, best known for his work in Rang De Basanti directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra. Earlier, there were reports that it could be a sports personality or a freedom fighter. “Mani and I have been writing something since 2007. Mani wants me to direct it myself. It’s a biopic, about a businessman who travels from rags to riches. A man who built and set up his own company,” says Rensil.
“And now, I am making this film with Karan Johar. But still, even though the movie is not on Mani, it’s got his magical touch in dialogues and visualization of the story,” adds Rensil. Mani Ratnam is currently busy working on his untitled urban romance film with Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen as leads. Meanwhile, Rensil D’silva is currently awaiting the release of Ungli, a long-pending comedy drama starring Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Sanjay Dutt and Randeep Hooda in lead roles.
