After Kuttram Kadithal, director Bramma’s sophomore film Magalir Mattum starring Jyotika has turned out to be a feel good, respectful, light hearted entertainer.

The film revolves around the story of three friends, who were separated from childhood, reunite and later go on a three-day road-trip along with Jyotika, who makes the dream come true for the trio.

The real strength of Magalir Mattum is the formidable supporting cast which consists of Urvashi, Saranya Ponvannan, Bhanu Priya, Nassar, Livingston and Paval Navageethan. Bramma has given equal screen time to all the ladies, who shine on screen with jovial as well as moving performances.

Jyotika as Prabhavathy, a documentary filmmaker, happens to be the crux of the story. But the 3 legendary actresses performances easily turn dominating through the runway. Jo too effortlessly pulls off along with the 3 ladies.

Bramma’s dialogues on gender sensitivity and the lack of respect for women, especially homemakers are good. Brownie points for Bramma for taking up one of the most under-discussed issues in marital lives.

Ghibran’s music elevates at pivotal scenes and moves the story forward, especially during the flashback portions. Manikandan’s cinematography was pleasant and Prem’s cuts was also easily connectable.

Overall, Magalir Mattum is a pleasing, respectful and a feel good movie that can drive you emotionally as well. A yet another quality film for Suriya’s 2D Entertainment indeed.
