Karthi’s Madras gets first award from Madurai-based human rights organization

Karthi’s Madras directed by Pa. Ranjith earned the praise of critics for the staggering and immersive realism portrayed in the film about the lifestyle of people inhabiting north Madras. The movie subtly dealt about how self-interested political parties and leaders manipulate and exploit indwellers of the locality for their personal benefits. Appreciating the film, Evidence, a Madurai-based human rights organization, is honoring Ranjith with the ‘Work of Societal Change’ award in a function scheduled to happen on October 25th in Madurai.

‘Evidence’ has been working tirelessly to ensure that the government enacts and effectively implements laws, policies and plans to protect and fulfill rights of the socially marginalized communities. So, that’s a fitting award for the team Madras!
