Measured frolic!

Maari is Anirudh’s weakest yet, a middling OST which impresses in a jigsaw. Barring two tracks, this is ho-hum stuff which is extremely noisy at places and adequately enjoyable at the others.

Self-proclaiming itself as a thara-local track, the album’s opener does live up to its name with its heavy beats and synths. Dhanush and Anirudh are terrific on the mic, making this an instant earworm. Our PICK!

Oru Vidhai Aasai: Singer – Vineeth Sreenivasan

Anirudh does bring an interesting assemblage of sounds to the fore along with VineethSreenivasan’s casual vocals. But the inappropriate tune doesn’t work in his favour, making this track a middling one.

Don’u Don’u Don’u: Singers – Anirudh, Alisha Thomas

Here comes a faux but frenzied mix from Anirudh, who definitely has it in him to churn out hit numbers. Alisha Thomas’ vocals are the showstopper, for this is a song which will make you hit the repeat button. Our PICK!

Bagulu Odayum Dagulu Maari: Singers – Dhanush & Anirudh

Barring the catchy string hook, this one has nothing to take away. Passable, at best.

The Maari Swag: Singer – Anirudh

Featured in the teaser, this is a short theme which will be used for the ‘mass’ scenes in the film.

Thappa Dhan Theriyum: Singers – Dhanush, Chinnaponnu, MagizhiniManimaaran and Anirudh

Predictable track which gets tedious towards the end. With the kuthu overdose streaming in, even Dhanush’s vocals fail to save this one.
