Lingaa: KS Ravikumar denies story theft allegation

Director KS Ravikumar and writer Ponkumaran have submitted their responses for a writ petition filed by aspiring director Ravi Rathinam who alleged that his story for his film Mullaivanam 999 has been stolen and adapted as Lingaa. We reported about it hereNow, KS Ravikumar has denied Ravi Rathinam’s allegations in his counter-affidavit which will come for hearing today. While Ravi Rathinam alleges that Lingaa team has stolen his script from a sketchy video he uploaded on YouTube on February 24, 2013, KS Ravikumar, in his petition, has said Ponkumaran has registered his script with the South Indian Film Writers’ Association in 2010 under the title King Khan.

“Though the story of Lingaa is penned by Ponkumaran, the film’s screenplay is written by me and I have added more original elements to the script. Hence, we request the judge to dismiss the frivolous petition filed against the film. This was done only to gain undue publicity since Lingaa is a high-budgeted film involving a huge star cast. The petitioner’s sole intention has been to force us to pay ransom by pressurizing the makers before release,” said KS Ravikumar.
