Piracy is the biggest menace besetting the Tamil film industry since long. Producers have been at a substantial loss and lose out a big chunk of audiences because of piracy. Nowadays, pirated DVDs hit the city’s hotspots during the second day of the film’s release and in some worst cases, even on the film’s opening day. Producers, who think overseas premieres majorly contribute to piracy, have even stopped the practice for the past few months and only Tamil Nadu gets to watch the films first of late.
Now, distributors and exhibitors association have gone a step further and implemented a great decision to avoid piracy. Any theaters found facilitating piracy will be subjected to a lifetime ban henceforth. The news has been confirmed by Vishal on his offcial Twitter page. This bold decision will make producers heave a sigh of relief to start with.
